There is more then £600,000 for the first prize but it's definitly not time for champagne yet, there are 4 Million chips into play and the winner needs to get them all!
It all started really fast from level 1. Blinds where only 25/50 when this happenned:
Holding I raised from Early Position
The button called and the big blind called.
Flop (425):
The blind checked and this being a good flop I made a bet of 300. The button called and the blind passed.
Turn (1025):
Good news is my hand improved, the bad news is there is 4 cards to a straight on the board. Even if it is unlikely my opponnent had a 7 on the flop for a gutshot, I cannot get many worst hand to call, so I check. He immediatly bets out 1000. Now I have played with this guy before and he is very bluffy, so I decide that the only hand that makes sense is pocket 7s and call confidently expecting him be bluffing often, and to bet again on the river either way.
River (3025):
I check and he bets 3000 immediatly. The quick and confident betting is suspicious, and I decided that the chances he was bluffing where good enough on the turn, no reason to reevaluate here and I called quickly.
He shows and I rake a big pot.
Two level laters the blinds where 75/100 and I raked another big pot.
I found and raised UTG to 450.
The small blind calls. He's very nice and funny gentlemant. He is also loose and creative. He seemed to bet out very quickly everytime which told me he does not really take the time to read the board and just trusts his emotions more than rationale.
Flop: (1050)
The small blind immediatly bets out 1500! Sometimes there is just too much money to be made by taking risks so I just called giving him a free card.
Turn: (4050)
Small blind immediatly bets out 2000. He has 6000 more behind. Again here I could push but thought there was a good chance he had no pair no draw and didn't want to shut him out just yet.
River: (8050)
SB bets 3000, I put him all in, and he calls, revealing
After these two pots my stack increased to 25000 putting me clearly in the lead at my table. With a strong image and the chips to play with I started opening up making more moves including this one:
Blinds are 100/200, I am in the Small Blind with
I raise to 600 and the big blind calls.
Flop:
Not a good flop betting and hoping to take it there, I check, Big blind checks.
Turn:
I bet out 800, BB raises to 2200, I make it 5200, after going into the tank he folds the Ten saying "Eights been good to you today"
Playing this aggressive style my stack climped to 40k but went back down to 32k when the strangest hand happenned...
Blinds are still 100/200 and I hold in the Cutoff
UTG (with a 10k stack) limps, I call, the button calls and both blinds join the party.
Flop (1200)
The blinds check and the UTG player bets 1000. He's a young aggressive player that's already made two bluffs, one against the K8 player and one with top pair weak kicker, turning his decent hand into a complete bluff. I fully expect he can bluff into 4 players that haven't shown strength preflop. I decide to call and take it from him on the later streets. Everyone else folds
Turn (3200)
UTG bets out 3800, almost half his chips. That's a really strange bet, it's extremely big and appears to commit him to the pot. After a while I decided he would never do this with AK or AAA. I can have a set myself I just called the flop last time I had it... I moved all in quietly. He went into the tank and then said "Oh what the hell let's gamble"
He called with...
River was the
I raked in a 20,000 pot, what a river! I believed I play this optimally and don't deny I got lucky. Bluffing with no pair no draw, getting called, and winning anyway is the strangest thing!
That pot got me to 40k, and I continued to put pressure on the table, slowly getting to 55k, amongst the biggest stacks in the room. Nothing exciting happenned until the last hour. The other big stack was a spanish player with 40k. He was mostly playing preflop poker. He raised my 600 blind to 1700.
I held and reraised to 5000, he called.
Flop came like a dream
I bet 7500 trying to look too confident to raise my opponent suspicion, and he moved all in. And I called.
Spanish guy:
Turn wow scary
River SHIP IT
Let's hope my second day involved as much luck and more importantly that I can bring my A-gme to the table once again!
